Sugar is a Soluble carbohydrate, which provides calories with no added nutrients to our body. If taken in excess, it’s the worst sort of ingredient in our diet.
Keep a safe distance from sweets, desserts, jam, sugary beverages etc as excess sugar consumption causes our skin to become dry by damaging these fibers which result in premature wrinkles and sagging. excess intake is also responsible for weight gain and various diseases like obesity, type II diabetes, and heart disease.
How much sugar should we consume???
Adults- no more than 30gms of free sugar (equivalent to 7 sugar cubes)
Men: 150 calories/day (37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons).
Women: 100 calories/day (25 grams or 6 teaspoons).
Children: not more than 24gm of free sugar
