Indian breakfast recipes!! Well, there are so many of them, and one of them is "poha", which actually is made by flattened rice.
Semolina Vermicelli Poha is one of the low-fat breakfast options and is also my favourite! As the name suggests, the vermicelli is made of semolina also known as Rava (Semolina is the coarse, purified wheat middlings of durum wheat mainly used in making pasta and couscous) which makes it healthy and light on the stomach too. You can also have it as a quick snack for the evening
let's see how I have made this savoury recipe.
- 300 gms Semolina vermicelli
- 2-3 medium sized Onion
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 cup Green Peas
- 1/2 cup carrot optional
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1/2 tbsp turmeric
- 4-5 green chillies
- 2 tbsp maggi masala optional
- 3-4 tbsp oil for cooking
First of all, Heat a pan and roast the vermicelli to light brown colour (here I have taken already roasted semolina vermicelli).
Chop onion and carrot into small pieces as per your wish.
Now, In a pan add oil and let it heat, add chopped onion and fry it until it starts to turn golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and saute it until it cooks properly. in addition, now add green peas and carrot into the pan along with salt, turmeric, Maggi masala/noodle masala/sabzi masala and mix thoroughly.
Cover and let it cook until the vegetables are tender. (You can add as many vegetables as you wish so that the nutritional value can be increased)
Go on and add the roasted vermicelli, mix all the ingredients together and add water to it and allow it to cook with covered lid. (water level should be just above the level of vermicelli into the pan)
let it boil while the lid is on so that the water is dried and the vermicelli is properly cooked.
Finally, Garnish with freshly chopped coriander and serve hot with fried peanuts over it.
